The United Kingdom is home to many amazing road trip destinations. You can’t get a better time to go road tripping than in summer and with summer being only a few short months away we have put together a list of some of the beautiful destinations we have available in the UK for you to travel to this summer.

The first place on our list is St Michaels Mount. It is a small island in Mounts Bay, Cornwall. The island has a small medieval church perched at the top and has houses along the bottom of it. The island is home to only 30 people. St Michaels  Mount is a perfect road trip destination, especially for people who would like to see the history of the Mount. Guided tours are available as well to make the most of your experience.

The second place on our list is also situated in Cornwall. Watergate Bay Beach is the ultimate summer road trip destination. Located 3 miles away from Newquay, Watergate Bay Beach features 2 miles of golden sand at low tide and provides huge waves from the Atlantic which makes this road trip a dream destination for surfers and kite surfers or people who just enjoying the sun, sand and sea breeze.

The next place on our list is Stonehenge. This is a very popular tourist destination because of its history with the stone circle being a very key feature. It consists of a ring of standing stones each around 13 feet  high. Stonehenge has a history spanning 4500 years and has many different meanings to people today. Stonehenge is situated in Wiltshire and is a must see spot for history lovers.

The Cotswolds is next on our list and whilst this isn’t a specific place to visit it is known for its quaint villages and amazing scenery so you are best driving around village hopping in the Cotswolds to see everything it has to offer. The Cotswolds is a rural area of south central England which covers parts of six different counties mainly Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. If you are looking for somewhere with great scenery and unique little villages then the Cotswolds is the place for you.

Next is the city of Bath. It is the largest city in the county of Somerset and is named after its roman built baths. The key thing to see when you go to Bath is obviously the Roman Baths so you can see why Bath got its name. There is also an amazing abbey in Bath that is definitely worth a visit. As with many of the other places on the list Bath is somewhere for the history lovers.

The ultimate road trip destination for hikers is Snowdonia National Park. Located in North West Wales. Snowdonia spans a massive 2,132km squared consisting of mountains and glacial landforms. Snowdonia national park is home to the highest mountain in Wales, Mount Snowdon. Once you reach the top of Snowdon you will get the gift of amazing views across the sea to Ireland.

The last place on my road trip destination list is Brighton. You can’t beat a trip to the seaside on a warm summers day. Brighton is the ultimate seaside destination with Brighton Pier being a road trippers favourite. There is plenty to do in Brighton with Brighton Marina being another crowd pleaser. The Marina features various restaurants, a cinema, glow in the dark golf, bowling  and a lot of other activities for various age groups. Another place worth visiting while in Brighton is the British Airways i360. You are in a pod that glides up 162 meters to allow you to have 360 degree views across Brighton. Brighton is definitely a family friendly destination.
